Taking cues from traditional ‘mountain shops’ that sell household utensils made of wood, bamboo and clay – materials you might find on a mountain – this independent store collects retro items from Hong Kong, with the likes of locally painted ceramics, bamboo steamers, cast-iron egg waffle moulds and vacuum water bottles on offer. The wooden shelves, glass cabinets and bare concrete walls are an aesthetic match for the old shophouse building’s stone pillars outside. Utility and nostalgic appeal define the selection here, running through their coffeemaking and camping items, as well as pieces by their favourite overseas brands: see the vintage Fire-King cups from the US and designer furniture and glassware from Japan.
