Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre
Sham Shui Po
This bold, irregular, crystal-shaped building houses the School of Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong. Designed by New York architect Daniel Libeskind, the nine-storey complex contains laboratories, theatres and classrooms, providing an environment for creativity rich in form, light and material. With glazed segments on the exterior, the centre’s faceted volume steers upwards to a point – a distinctive feature of Libeskind’s work. The crystalline structure is geometrically sophisticated, offering spaces more than 50% modular, and standardised designs to allow impressive flexibility.
